Tuak MadisSarawak

Our Story

Brewed slowly,
shared widely.

Weathered hands working a length of Iban pua kumbu cloth in warm low light

Tuak Madis is a heritage rice-wine label based in Kuching, Sarawak.

Every bottle is brewed by hand from heritage glutinous rice using techniques passed down through generations of Dayak families. Small batches. Long fermentation. No shortcuts. We release a bottle only when the flavour is right.

It begins with the yeast

We don't buy our ragi in — we inherit it, cultured at our own yeast house in Kampung Beratok from 18 secret ingredients.

The same living strain carries from batch to batch, season to season — the through-line that makes a Tuak Madis bottle taste like ours, and no one else's.

We ship eight flavours. The Original is the reference — the heritage recipe at its quietest. Stout is brewed on a barley-and-rice base, the boldest of the house. The rest are single-ingredient co-ferments — Grape, Roselle, Ginger, Apple, Watermelon, and Tebu (sugarcane) — each fermented with the fruit or root, never flavoured after the fact. For something stronger, Langkau is our twice-distilled rice spirit — Sarawak's traditional mountain liquor, poured for toasts and cold nights.

Planning a wedding, Gawai, or corporate gift? We also do customised bottles for events with your own sticker. For the why behind the bottle — the inherited yeast, the village air it's grown in, the Gawai harvest that started it all — read our story. Other questions? Write to us at /contact.
